The disease like Leprosy has not been a problem. Rather it has been successfully addressed through application of Multi Drug Therapy (MDT). But we are even if reluctant to accept the cured Leprosy patients. Considering the problems and vulnerability of cured leprosy patients, JKYC has established a Vocational Training Centre and a Home for LCPs at Jankiagarh of Kanas Block of Puri District.



HOME FOR LEPROSY CURED PERSONS
At the present scenario, we have to admit that we are not in position to accept the cured leprosy persons even if their respective family members also equally neglect them. As result they prefer and accept begging for their survival. It needs in motivating the leprosy cured persons against begging. To fulfill the above objectives, JKYC has established a Home for Leprosy cured persons with the support of MSJ&E, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
Objectives
- To ensure equal opportunities, equity and social justice to Leprosy cured persons.
- To support and facilitate the availability of appropriate Homes and Hostel facilities.
Target Group
- Leprosy Cured persons
Presently 25 nos of leprosy cured persons representing Male-15, Female-10 is staying at Home. The facilities like: free boarding, free lodging, free accommodation, medical treatment and entertainment are available at Home . The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt of India, has extended with the financial support to address the problem.
