Poultry farming is the process of raising raising domesticated birds such as chickens. ducks and geese for the purpose of fanning meat or eggs for food Chickens raised for eggs are usually called layers while chickens raised for meat are often called broilers. The main purpose of JKYC to promote poultry farm is to make the rural poor trained with the procedure of farming, marketing and management which helps them to alleviate their poverty. It is one of the the ways available to rural poor farmers to do business with the lesser capital requirement. JKYC has its one own farm with production capacity of 4500 chickens per year. Income generated from this source sustains itself as well as contributes to other welfare activities. Till now 15 small farmers of Puri district have been trained and linked to micro finance.
