Elderly people are always venerated in a traditional society like India. They are considered to be the repository of experience and wisdom. Unlike the west, where a young poet’s death is considered as tragic icon of creativity, Indian traditional believes that age makes an artist perfect. Old is gold, is a popular saying. But as gold becomes purer, it also becomes frail. Physical debility imposes a number of limitations for the elderly. They therefore, need care and support. Believing on live and let live JKYC has taken its sincere interest to address this critical and typical social issue. So considering the vulnerability of aged people of age group 60 and above years has been rehabilitated at its Aged home established and functioning at Malud of Krushnaprasad block of Puri district.




Objectives
- Reinforce and strengthen the ability and commitment of the family to provide care to elderly.
- Popularize the concept of life long preparation for Old Age at the individual level as well as at the societal level.
- Facilitate productive Ageing.
- Provide care to the destitute elderly.
Target Group
- The senior citizens(of age 60 years and above) particularly the infirm, destitute and the widows.
Presently 25 nos. of Aged people representing Male- 17, Female-08 is staying at the Home. Facilities like: free boarding, free accommodation, medical treatment and entertainment are available for the aged people at the Home. The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, has extended financial support to address the problem.
